It cut through!!!
No news about his sugar as of yet. You know how it is when you call the doctor and it takes centuries to get a reply if they feel it’s not life threatening.

Today, I feel a little down. I’m not sure what it is but I wish that it will just go away. I got a call on my cell from a number I didn’t recognize. I generally screen my calls when I’m upset but I answered this one. It was the IVF office that my husband and I used. I haven’t spoken to anyone from the office since I was discharged. The nurse called me about a questionnaire and remembered exactly who I was. She said I was hard to forget because when ever I had to get blood work I would flip out about how much it hurt or that I didn’t have enough blood. LOL Well yes, I do have a low pain tolerance. Anyway, she wanted to know how my pregnancy and child went. I gave her a quick review of what occurred and she felt very sympathetic. Now, I know that these questionnaires are monitory. I somehow don’t think my story will encourage someone with fertility issues. Once I got off the phone with her I immediately began to cry. I cried until I heard Tre` whimper. I wiped my tears and went to him. Once I took him out the bed, he smiled so huge, I started to laugh.

I put him in his swing and he fell fast asleep. (these are thumbnails)

Lately Tre` has been extremely agitated. There’s no calming him down sometimes, too. With the excessive drooling spells, to gnawing at his fist, to his temper flaring; it’s been assumed by his nurses that he has been teething. I didn’t believe that MY baby was teething because I didn’t see or feel anything that can be clarified as teeth. Secondly one nurse would say that she feels something while the next nurse differs. I went ahead a bought Baby Orajel since it wouldn’t hurt him. Just as I suspected, NOTHING happened! His noonie (pacifier) did more for him than Orajel so he not teething.

Once his overnight nurse left, I tried various things to console him until either something worked or I tired him out. I’m not sure which one it was but he fell fast asleep in my arms. I kissed him and watched his sleeping facial expressions. For some reason I looked in his mouth. I did it as softly as I can so I didn’t wake him. Lo and behold, I find two nubbies coming in at the bottom. To make matters worse, I can't really call them nubbies because nubbies are felt teeth are seen. At least I think. Oh no, these are two teeth coming in at the bottom. I wanted to die.

I have come to grips with the fact that my baby has become a man. LOL.

Sugar baby
So as some of you may already know Tre` is hypoglycemic. We believe that it has a lot to do with his liver damage. Fortunately his bili levels have dropped dramatically. It got so high that a brand new liver was talked up. No one really knew if anything can come of this. That’s my boy, prove them wrong!!! So, we don’t know how great they have gotten because his new doctors haven’t checked his levels since he’s been home.

I had the doctor change the orders for his glucose testing. He was getting it every morning and for months he hasn’t had a hypoglycemic episode/ reading. No one really knows how this happened or when hey just caught it and he was diagnosed. So, the only thing that was keeping his sugar up is continuous feeds (Neocate 27 rate of 38/24hrs). As of lately, his sugars have been getting higher and higher. Yesterday morning alone his nurse checked his sugar and it was 147. In the evening I took his sugar, personally (literally) and I got 124. I asked his nurse what “she’d like to see his sugar at and she said between 70 and 90. Now, no disrespect to her but I asked what she’d like to see only as an opinion not for advice. She did, however, tell me that the prednisone he’s on has a side effect that increases the blood sugar. Any event, I plan to call the doctor Thursday or Friday morning so he can monitor what’s going on. I won’t have a day nurse but I’ll work something out.

Without doctors orders I would stop his feed for a half hour sometimes an hour. I do it to give his tummy a break. He get’s extremely distended around the abdominal area. The people that are supposed to follow his hypoglycemia are Endocrinology at CHOP. Right now he doesn’t have an appointment until mid March. That is the ONLY appointment they claim to have.

Tre` is actually a surviving twin. His twin was lost in utero during the first trimester. The cause was unknown but too common for a lot of women. I never got to hold his twin, see his twin, morn his twin, nor name his twin. I just have memories of the excitement. With all the hard work we did to get pregnant, I did times two.

There’s a nice brief introduction. I’m new to blogging so I’ll do my best.
